Our goal is to protect and beautify the world. Just as much as our paints are designed to protect your products and project, we strive to protect your personal information at all times. Together with Cookie Policy, this Statement describes how PPG Industries, Inc. and its affiliates use and protect your personal information that you may have provided to us through the use of our websites, applications, or by social media (referred to in this Statement as ‘Websites’, ‘Apps’, ‘Social Media’ and collectively as “Sites”), by phone or otherwise.

This Statement applies globally to all PPG’s operations and Sites. However, for certain regions, products or services, specific privacy notices may apply instead of, or to complement this Statement.

Who collects your personal information

The PPG entity which is providing the respective product or service is responsible for processing of personal information that you provide to us.

PPG acting on behalf of third parties

You may provide personal information to third parties selling PPG products or benefiting from PPG services such as applications designed by our company. Such relationships are normally governed by a contract between PPG and its business partners and PPG is not responsible for the personal information collection practices of such third parties. In this circumstance, please carefully read privacy statement of your respective business partner to whom you disclose your data.

Personal information we collect

We may collect the following kinds of personal information depending on the context of collection.

Personal information we collect directly from you: (i) name, job title, nationality, and date of birth (ii) contact information including home, office and email address; (iii) areas of interest, including marketing contact preferences; (iv) payment information including credit/debit card numbers.

We collect the above information, for example, when you (i) purchase our products and services; (ii) complete forms on our Sites; (iii) create user account on our Websites or within our Apps ;(iv) visit our production sites and offices; (v) participate in our promotions, offers, quizzes, questionnaires, and/or contests; (vi) provide us with feedback, leave a product review or contact PPG with questions or comments.

Personal information we collect via our Sites: (i) account information, including online identifiers such as account name and encrypted password.  (ii) IP address, device ID, device model; (iii) application usage patterns such as time of activity; (iv) browser information; (iv) geo-location data; (v) profile photos; (vi) Social Media identifiers; (vii) comments, reactions and opinion expressed in Social Media posts.

We collect the above information, for example, when you (i) create a user account on our Website and in the Apps; (ii) order and pay for PPG products and services (iii) make use of our Websites, Apps and interact with us via PPG’s Social Media accounts.

Our Websites and Apps may use information coming from and collected through usage of cookies, tracking pixels, beacons and other tracking technologies.

Personal information we collect about you from third parties: in some circumstances, we collect personal information about you from our business partners or from publicly available sources. Such information normally includes contact information (e-mail address, phone number), job title or commercial interests. We then may combine such information with other information we collect directly from you, as described above.

Why we collect your personal information

The purposes for which we collect your personal information vary depending on the circumstances of collection. We may process your personal information for the following business and commercial purposes:

When you order or purchase our products or services from us: we collect your personal information in order to perform our business relationship with you, including (i) create your account; (ii) manage your orders, including payment; (iii) provide you with customer and technical services; (iv) respond to your questions, enquiries and complaints.  

When you use our Websites and Apps: we collect your personal information in order to manage Websites and Apps, including (i) activate your account; (ii) process payments and fulfill orders that you place on or through the Websites or Apps; (iii) allow you to store, share, and/or delete photos or images that you submit, generate and/or save; (iv) troubleshoot software issues, security and operational problems. 

When you access our Social Media sites: we collect your personal information in order to manage your interaction with us via our Social Media sites, including (i) administer Social Media sites and fanpages, on the terms and conditions set out by Social Media sites providers; (ii) inform you about our activity; (iii) promote events, brands, products and services; (iv) communicate with you via available functionalities (comments, in-site messages).  

When we wish to improve our products or services: we collect your personal information in order to generate valuable insights so that we can improve our product or services, including: (i) understand your needs as our customer; (ii) customize your user experience; (iii) measure effectiveness of communications and Websites and Apps performance; (iv) compile market insights; (v) conduct data analysis and testing on the Websites and Apps.

When we promote our products and services: we collect your personal information in order to periodically reach out to you via different channels with promotional materials, including: (i) engage in direct marketing by email, post and phone; (ii) administer and process surveys, quizzes, questionnaires and contests; (iii) provide you with offers, samples, invitations to events, training courses; (iv) provide you with advertisement information which we have a reason to believe you may find interesting based on your previous requests or based on similar products you have bought or expressed your interest before.

When we engage in Online Behavioral Advertisement: we may collect your personal information and other data which does not directly identify you to serve you interest-based advertising (“IBA”). When we attend to our legal obligations: we collect your personal information when the law requires us to do so, including (i) maintaining our business records; (ii) preventing fraud; (iii) complying with the requests of public authorities; (iv) complying with export control and sanctions regulations; (v) abiding by health and safety laws and protocols.

We may also collect or process your personal information for other purposes than those mentioned in this Statement, as otherwise described to you via in-time notice at or before the moment when we collect your information.

When we share your personal information and with whom

Except as noted herein, we do not sell or share your personal information with any person or entity outside of PPG.

We may share your personal information and other data with third parties as follows:
 

PPG group entities may be recipients of your personal information, so that we can benefit from our corporate structure to facilitate quicker and more efficient service to you by sharing within the group information systems, financial administration or other administrative tasks and customer service.

Processors and service providers are sometimes engaged by PPG to assist us with their services and may, in course of their engagement, receive, or otherwise have access to, your personal information. These processors and service providers include, but are not limited to: (i) media, design, printing, promotional, and event agencies in order to conduct promotional and marketing activities or execute communications on PPG's behalf; (ii) survey and market research companies, in order to obtain market intelligence; (iii) IT and other technical providers in order to obtain hosting, storage, or recovery services in case PPG's computer systems were ever damaged, destroyed, or inaccessible; (iv) shipping entities and logistics service providers (e.g., courier, postal services) to ship to you products and other materials on PPG's behalf; (v) payment processing service providers; and (vi) customer services agencies for providing service to you where you ordered online.

In case of a legal requirement, PPG may also disclose your personal information and other data to relevant third parties if we are required to do so by law or that disclosing such information is necessary to: (i) conduct investigations of possible breaches of law; (ii) identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be violating an agreement they have with PPG; or (iii) to avoid imminent physical harm to any person or to protect PPG's rights, safety, or property. We may also disclose your personal information to relevant third parties (e.g., forensics investigators, external legal counsel, law enforcement) to investigate, respond to, and/or to prevent a security/data breach, or to cooperate with government or law enforcement authorities pursuant to other legal matters.

In the course of corporate transactions, PPG may share your personal information and other data with a third party (and its attorneys, accountants and other relevant parties) in the event that PPG merges with, acquires, is acquired by, or becomes a legal affiliate with, such third party, or should such a transaction be proposed.

Security

The security of your personal information is important to PPG. PPG protects personal information by using, implementing, and maintaining industry standard physical, organizational and technological safeguards and security measures that are reasonably designed (appropriate to the sensitivity of such personal information) to help protect against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure or access of personal information in both storage/rest and in transmission. PPG requires complex passwords for user accounts through the Websites and/or Apps. When your personal information is no longer required (as described in this Statement), it is destroyed, anonymized, or otherwise disposed of using secure methods.

Retention period 

Your personal information will only be retained by PPG for as long as it is required: (i) for the purpose(s) for which it was collected; (ii) to be retained by law; and/or (iii) to address any issues that may have arisen at a later date (in which case we will provide you with any further information as required by law).       
 
PPG reserves the right to maintain proper business records as required by law, or for otherwise legitimate business purposes to the extent permitted by law, even if such records contain your personal information.

Children Information

Our Sites are intended for individuals 18 years of age and older. The Sites are not directed at, marketed to, nor intended for, children under 13 years of age. PPG does not knowingly collect or use information, including personal information, on children under the age of 13. If PPG becomes aware of any information collected from a child under the age of 13 through the Sites, PPG will delete the information.

PPG will not use a minor's personal information to market or advertise certain products or services deemed harmful to children. PPG also will not disclose any minor's personal information if it has actual knowledge that the minor's personal information will be used for the purpose of marketing or advertising the harmful products or services.

Your rights and choices

We provide you with choices regarding the use of your personal information for marketing purposes. If you would like to opt out of receiving further promotional emails from PPG, please follow the opt-out instructions at the bottom of the email or submit a request to PPG Privacy Portal. Please note that if you have an account with us or you have purchased our products recently, we may still contact you with product, service, or safety related information.

Some local laws provide individuals with specific rights regarding their personal information. These may include a right to access, update, delete/suppress, or object to use of personal information. If you wish to exercise any rights available to you under local law, please do so by submitting your request to PPG Privacy Portal. We respond to all request as soon as reasonably practicable and in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

International Transfers

Due to geographical proximity of our business to our customers, we generally use and store your personal information within your country of residence. However, as an international company, PPG may transfer your personal information throughout PPG’s worldwide organization or to engage third party service providers based in countries outside of your country of residence. Since privacy law in those countries may not be as comprehensive as those in your country of residence, some regulations require PPG to take additional safeguards prior to the transfers and PPG is committed to comply with such laws.

External Links

While on the Sites, you may choose to follow links to other external online locations, including those embedded in third party ads or sponsor information, which are not controlled by PPG. Be aware that other online locations may collect and use personal information differently than PPG on the Sites, and operate in accordance with their own privacy policies. PPG is not responsible for the privacy practices and data collection policies/practices of such third-party locations. You should consult the privacy policies of those respective third-party locations for details before using them.

PPG may also allow interaction between the Sites, and other sites or mobile applications such as Facebook or other social media providers. This may include the "Like" button or other plugins available through the Sites that allow you to share information with persons outside of the Sites. Please consult the privacy policies of those third-party providers before using them to make sure you are comfortable with the level of sharing.

Changes to this Statement

Both privacy laws and PPG business operations are extremely dynamic in nature. As a result, in the interest of transparency, we reserve the right to make changes to this Statement at any time. We suggest that you check back from time to time in order to understand how we treat your personal information. Our statement’s effective date will always be set forth at the end. Any changes will be immediately incorporated into this Statement and will be prospective only. We will not make any changes that have retroactive effect unless legally required to do so.      
 
Any change to this Statement is effective immediately. Your continued use of the Sites or interaction with PPG after any changes are made to this Statement constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If any changes are unacceptable to you, you should cease all use of the Sites or other interactions with PPG.
